Holes on Devianart

Mattias Shape went out today and shot a lot of pictures of holes. Ventilation holes, power socket holes, drainage holes. Mostly circular holes but also some square and some shapeless holes. Holes that pass thru walls and holes that completely clogged with stuff.
Later today he added, not very tidily, some plain colored shapes on top of the shots and put a few of them on Devianart under the title Holes:
(Why Devianart? What a strange idea…)
What was he trying to achieve with such an autistic project? Was he looking for a divine geometry? Was he trying to find an order in industrial chaos? I afraid none of these guesses is correct.
